Integrating the Universal Imaging Utility with MDT for Automated Driver Management

Today we are going to look at a new product we have been working on, and currently in beta testing - the Universal Imaging Utility for MDT.  If you are reading this you are probably already familiar with the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).  If this product is new to you, MDT is available as a free download from Microsoft that allows operating system image deployment via pre-configured Task Sequences. MDT can integrate with a Windows Deployment Service on a server to use PXE technology for media-free deployments.

The UIU for MDT brings our continuously update and vetted driver database technology into a new realm that existing UIU customers, and those struggling with driver management in MDT will appreciate. MDT users will no longer have to search for drivers, download them or package them for hardware-specific deployment.

For current customers, running UIU on a base image before capture is no longer required, which speeds up the maintenance process and makes image sizes much smaller.  Also the update procedure for UIU software is much simpler as there is no need to create new media every time a new version is released.

Now let's look at how UIU integrates with an MDT Task Sequence.
