DB-14-07-08-REL - Driver Database Update Only Bookmark

July 8, 2014

Driver DB Amendments:

Customer-requested drivers since May 2014 release

Drivers Affected:

See Attached: UIU DB-14-07-08-REL Drivers.pdf

Make and Models Affected:

See Attached: Make-Model DB-14-07-08-REL.pdf

All affected models, specifically those incl. newer Intel USB3 controllers

Issue: Driver Incompatibility

Symptoms:

The Lenovo B560 Notebook (potentially other machines as well) attempts to install an updated version of the ATA Storage Controller driver (ibexide.inf & ibexid2.inf) in place of an established version that has been proven to be more well suited to the hardware. This is causing the machines to receive a hard disk controller error and a resultant BSOD.

Resolution:

As the updated driver added no additional support and replaced older versions, the updated version was excluded until the issue may be resolved by the vendor. Existing, established drivers perform as expected.

Issue: Faulty HDC Driver

Symptoms:

The Dell Latitude E5440 (potentially other machines as well) receive the error “Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this hardware”. The resulting BSOD was the result of the installation of a faulty version of the IAstor driver and presented the error when the BIOS was set to “RAID” mode.

Resolution:

The offending driver has been excluded until the issue may be resolved by the vendor. Existing, established drivers perform as expected.

Known Issue - Vendor Related: NFP Driver from NXP Semiconductors

Symptoms:

Various HP machines (HP Folio 1040 & HP Revolve 810 G2 in particular) are not correctly installing the Near Field Proximity (NFP) Driver from NXP Semiconductors due to its dependency upon the existence of the Intel Management Engine Components driver.

Resolution:

Intel Management Engine 9.5 Components Driver must be installed before running this driver package.

Known Issue - Windows Related: Microsoft Kernel-mode driver framework Version 1.11 Update for Windows 7

Symptoms:

In Windows 7, select drivers that require an updated kernel-mode framework will not install and potentially preventing successful image deployments.

Resolution:

Update the Microsoft Kernel-Mode Framework to version 1.11. It is our recommendation that the User-Mode Driver Framework version also be updated to version 1.11 for Windows 7 deployments.

Reminder:

The driver database now exceeds 12GB in size (12.5 GB). Please follow the guidelines below for optimal performance. This database release still covers XP through Win8.1-64bit. USB Flash drives need to be formatted with the NTFS file system before the driver database will successfully transfer. Network share access is recommended.

Support Reminder:

The Big Bang Support Team would like to remind our customers to please clear out any drivers represented in the Custom folder(s) prior to testing with a new version of the UIU Driver Database as neglecting to do so may result in false negative installations.  Please contact a Support Representative with questions or concerns. Thank you!
